Lotr peregrin took4/30/2023 ![]() As old as the Shire, I don’t doubt, maybe even older. Your heart sunk, he truly had been hurt by the wizard’s words. “I know he is harsh, Pip,” Pippin nodded in agreement, “But you have to remember that Gandalf is old, very old. “Gandalf, how can he always insult me as if it is nothing?” Pippin didn’t look at you but said: “I don’t understand how he does it.” You cast your eyes to him and you were saddened by the fact that his eyes were red and blotchy and that his face was tear streaked. The pair of you sat in silence for a good few minutes, until you heard a quiet sniffle from beside you. ![]() You sat down beside him, not looking at him and simply staring into the trees ahead. ![]() You didn’t care if Pippin ignored you or sent you back, you wouldn’t give up.Īs you walked towards the hobbit in question, leaves crunched underneath your feet and caused Pippin to tense his back. Merry looked over at you, not sitting up, with knowing eyes and a grim look. “I’m going to talk to him,” you whispered, standing up quietly and stretching your stiff muscles. He sat with a blanket bunched around his shoulders and appeared to be shivering, although at your distance from him and the cover of darkness, it was hard to make out anything. You sighed heavily, pushing yourself up by your elbows and looking in Pippin’s direction. Half way through the night, both you and Merry were staring up at the stars in a sleepless state. “Quite right, after what you did, you should,” Gandalf rumbled with closed eyes. “I’ll take first watch,” Pippin had said, not turning around to Aragorn. Not whilst your friend was in such a state. Sam and Frodo were happy to get to sleep, however you and Merry weren’t. Aragorn and Boromir also drifted off to sleep quite quickly. Legolas was out like a light, Gimli following soon after with obnoxious snoring. The Fellowship all nodded their agreement, settling down on their makeshift beds. “Let us all rest,” Aragorn ordered, cleaning dried orc blood from his sword, Andúril. “We shall have a very taxing day tomorrow, we need all the sleep we can get.” Usually he would sleep with you and Merry. In the corner of your eye you spotted Pippin setting up his bedroll where he sat. ![]() Merry frowned and returned to his bedroll that had been set up by yours and Frodo’s. Merry followed him but was quickly turned away. It wasn’t uncommon for Gandalf to reprimand Pippin and he usually took it well, however this time Pippin withdrew himself from all conversation and lead himself to a semi-secluded spot near the trees. You glanced back at Merry with furrowed brows. The three of you had been best friends since you were children and it was rare to see you three parted which contributed to the fact that you were allowed into the Fellowship, another being the things Elrond had seen set out for you in your future. Merry glanced at you with concern glistening in his eyes. Raising his hand to his mouth and holding back a choked sob, Pippin turned his back on his companions, shielding his reddened eyes from them. Angry curses escaped the wizard’s mouth and tears brimmed Pippin’s eyes. Pippin flinched as Gandalf stormed towards him, “Why Lord Elrond ever made you part of this Fellowship, I do not know! Nor shall I never know, you are too reckless for your own good! Next time I shan’t be so lenient, Peregrin.” The entire of the Fellowship watched as Pippin trembled, watching the old wizard return to his bedroll. “Fool of a Took!” Gandalf huffed, angrily waving his staff about. ![]()
